Artist's Comments

A boy in a lower berth in a sleeper looks out the window at his train winding through the snowy mountains under the full moon. I titled this "Who Would Sleep?" The exterior is imaginary; I had to hunt for good photos of a Pullman berth for the interior. And yes- there are places in the mountains where the track curves so much you can see your locomotive almost broadside from several cars back. Ride the California Zephyr alongside the Colorado River.

Ink drawing reduced to fit a folded 8 1/2 by 11 sheet.

wow, uttierly beutiful. I always loved those times at Night in a sleeping car. Been on Amtrak ones, never ridden in a Pullmen. (slept in one though, wasn't moving!) this just has a late night feel to it. very well done. :D
